28/09/19 Training.....and more training

A solid 10 hours of training today. So tired. I'm sitting her waiting for my room mate to cone back with the keys to the room!

Im having trouble typing as I have the start of a headache that's affecting my eyes....and we are leaving Kathmandu tomorrow morning at 6.30am on a 4 hour road trip into the country for 4 days of training!

At least it feels like the Monsoon is on its way out finally.

27/09/19 Surreal day - Trainning, Dancing, Sadness and winning

After a decent but hot nights sleep, it was up at 6.30am ready for breakfast curry followed by a full day of training.

Heavy Monsoon rain after lunch helped cool things down a bit, maybe slightly too much!

News from home that a friends dear mother had died was sinking in, I felt a great sadness as Kathy was a beautiful soul, she looked after me well when I visited making me feel like one of the family. Further sadness that I wouldn't be able to attend Kathy's funeral as I am away. I will be there in spirit ♥️

A meal out with the Volunteer Managers at a Nepalese restaurant was a great, one pf the VM Medics bought her Fiddle and we had a little Kaley in the resturant! The evening was topped off with Nepalese dance to the tune of a Scottish reel....funny and slightly surreal!

Oh, and the winning....I entered a competition to win a 1970 VW Beetle a while back and woke to the news that I'd won 😁

26/09/19 Day 1

Flight arrived 30 mins early, it then took 2 hours for the luggage to arrive on conveyor belt 3!  No idea what they were doing with it all that time as its no exactly a big airport!

One thing that was interesting were the size and variety of electrical good that came onto the conveyor. So many 55 inch LED TVs, microwaves, deep fat fryers. I spoke to a local about it. The people go and work in Doha and then buy cheap electric goods and ship them home when they return. Not sure how well some of them will work after the not so gentle treatment some were receiving!

There was also an odd noise which I couldn't quite place, then I noticed boxes piled high in the ccorner contained hundreds of live chicks.

All the smells, sights and sounds of India but on a smaller scale, would be how I'd sum up Nepal on day 1

Straight into the hostel for lunch then onto icebreakers, medical assessments, talks by the Country Directors. Then dinner and then I finally get to go to bed having not slept since waking up st 6am 25/09!

25/09/19 Doha (The World's 4th favourite airport)

A huge hub of an airport, spotless and cold. It's 1am local time and outside its still 33'.

Currently sitting in the Men only  lounge trying to get some rest but its not working.

Shortly be flying on to Kathmandu, really hope day one isn't too demanding as I'm knackered already!

24/09/19 Fast forward 8 years

This blog was originally written to track of our adventure in India with Susie, Max, Darcy and Vesper. I wrote most of thoses blog posts while stuck in traffic, observing every day India (well Mumbai anyway)

This time it's just me, 3 months in Nepal working for Raleigh International.

Just on our way to Gatwick now, super excited.
