01/10/19 Technical difficulties

Early alarm calls are never welcome.

When that alarm call comes at 1am and is the urge to go to the toilet (full blown diarrhea) even less so.

And the night before the Aama (Mother) told you stories about the Tiger that attacked and killed one of her buffalos a month ago...and the buffalos were on the field terrace below where you

were staying.

And the toilet is a 20 metre dash across the yard in the dark

And the toilet is a squat hole in the ground.

Appreciate it is not a great blog subject, however pause for a moment to maybe to consider my situation, even I laugh about it now!

In case you are interested, I made it, thank goodness for good muscle control.

Today was the day of the full trail Hike, I was clearly in no fit state to join in so was feeling very sorry for myself.  I wasn't the only sick person, however we retreated to our respective homes for a quiet day of rest.

Feeling a little more human later I went to the public Tap stand in the Community and had a wash.  First I have to wait for the local women to complete washing their clothes, filling water jugs and washing themselves.

I was entertained by Julia (8), Ocene (11) and Ridham (6) in the meantime who all spoke good English and were interested speak to me.  I showed them pictures of home and Darcy and Vesper which they loved, the questions coming thick and fast.  They had my phone, leafing through photos, the questions continuing.  Then they found Snapchat and proceeded to take selfies with numerous filters!

Back in my room, refreshed after a wash and a fun time with the children, I was treated to the calling song of Aama to her Babu (Son) to ask him questions/summon him home.  The houses here are all perched on the steep Mountain side so this lovely singsong calling up and down the slope fills the air.

'Eo Babu!'

Also enjoyed watching Aama shifter the Maise that had been ground by Grandma the day before, such an art, clearly well practiced.
