Odd sort of day. Having been flat out for 2 1/2 weeks, today felt odd as it was more about the Volunteers getting training now.
Catherine (Medic) and I still have the same lovely group of youngsters (Delta 5) today although that will all change tomorrow when the groups get adjusted ready for phase 1. Apart from keeping them all on track with where they needed to be, most of the day was spent sorting out the evenings 'Organised Fun' event. Its a quiz. All questions researched, 5 rounds written and it was great fun although I'm a little hoarse from having to shout to get 60 young adults to listen up!
Earlier in the day I had to use a teaching technique on one of the Dutch lads who was talking to his friend whilst I was speaking...so I just stopped talking and quietly waiting for him to realise. He sheepishly stopped, sat up and listened from that point on!
Lots of the Volunteers are in a gap yesr, doing something worthwhile which is great. Most of them are still up and making noise, Iyhink the 20 day Trek or the 20 day Community phase will be a very big challenge.
