Around where we live just about every road is being dug up to lay some sort of pipe or cable. I assume they are digging them in as all of the trees/lamp posts are already full!
The excavations vary between unguarded, unlit holes in the ground to the one I've just spotted which had what looked like sandbags around the hole, red and white guard rails and flashing red led lights! On closer inspection the sand bags turned out to be full of earth and matter from the hole they had dug. Clever system this as to fill in the hole they simply through all the bags back in the hole, top layer of grit, few new brick sets and good as new. Well, until the monsoon when the water will undermine and the heavy traffic will create potholes!
