28th January 2011 - Gard Dogs

Passed one of the many building sites on my way to work today and a new sign has been put up stating proudly that the site is protected by 'Gard Dogs'. No matter where you go in Mumbai there are street dogs everywhere. During the day they are sleepy and quiet but at night all hell breaks loose and they fight their corner as if their life depended on it (in most cases it does). So the thought that you would be any worse off by breaking into a compound and facing a Gard Dog rather than a pack of wild street dogs some what reduces the threat!
