09/11/19 Worse then Better

Overnight we found out that 2 of the volunteers had ignored the simple rules in place to keep them safe.

The Leopard attacks are increasing so we really aren't messing about regarding their safety. I declined the Head Office request to check on the rule breakers as it was past curfew, pitch black outside and I have no desire to be a statistic.

If any Leopards are interested there is a big Ox behind our rooms that keeps mooing all night so suggest that is on your list for the next visit.

So the day started with a couple of disciplinary chats, both lads came clean although one had a crappy excuse too. Helen and I decided that they could sit on the naughty step for the whole of the morning session as a reminder not to be dicks. Personally the amount of Raleigh paperwork if there was an incident, plus the liability and collection of bodyparts is something to avoid.

We spent the morning cutting metal pipes into lengths and tapping screw threads into them. These will be used when we build the 37 Tapstands that the community needs.

Dal Bhat.
The curry was some sort of squash. The pickle was made with radishes. Very tasty.

The Comms Manager is with us for 10 days, poor Ursula struggles with the amount of food. Being super polite she feels she has to eat it all, washing each mouthful down with a swig of water. The process takes ages.

The afternoon was spent digging the huge hole for the new 10,000 litre reservoir tank. The team split into half, 15 mins on then 15 mins off. Picking and digging through hard mud and rock it is tough going. A human chain to take the buckets out of the hole worked well and we were supported by a group of Community members. Progress was swift and we feel good to have made a really good start today.

Met the daughter of the Aama in the garden picking beans. She told me that they were for dinner so fresh bean curry as accompaniment tonight.
