12/11/19 Rest day

Day off planned today with a trip to the local market town later.

Today is the first 'Turd burning Tuesday' where all of the used toilet paper for the last week plus any other rubbish gets burnt. Felt a little ceremonial as I poured Kerosene onto the plastic bags and set light to them, singlehandedly undoing all of my recycling in the UK. The group watched the fire for about 10 mins, making sure to stand down wind. An odd bonding session!

Took the opportunity to do my washing at the public Tapstand.
Clothes now a degree cleaner and drying fast in the morning sun.

Nice little solo walk up to the mountain outside of the village observing the gentle pace of life:

Passed Aama making 'Nepali Wine' (neat alcohol), another rincing rice for Dal Bhat at 10am, another hand turning a terrace of cut crop, kids on their way to school, builders on the roof of a nearby building and a white man buying a litre of Kerosene in a mineral water bottle ready for Turd burning Tuesday.

Clear morning, hot by 9am, beautiful view of the snow capped mountains.

After lunch we had a walk to the local market town, little more lively, few more shops and a little Temple. On the way to get Mo:Mo we got caught up in a lively procession, the old Aamas desperate for us to join in. Sadly we were headed in the wrong direction. I was keen to join in but I had to stay with the group who wanted food and to buy biscuits! I can't help feeling that we missed out on a good experience. To be fair there were 15 of us so would have been a squeeze.

Roti and Dal Curry for dinner, so good and although only a small reworking of the normal Dal Bhat it was so welcome.
