16/10/19 Khare Bazzar to Belung

Trek day 1. Breakfast at 6.15am. Finally left at 7.30am, overcast and humid already.

The first 100m we were in high spirits, the backpacks were heavy but there was the promise of a lovely day ahead.

And then we turned up a steep rough track. And it didn't let up until we reached the first village stop at 1pm. Soaked through with sweat and bodies aching we checked into two rooms with rush mats on the floor. Access was via a spiral staircase that looked as if it was barely attached to the actual building. The toilet was a trek in itself:

Down the spiral stairs
Across the yard
Down the side of the wall (stones sticking out as foot treads
Along the terrace past the goats
Down more steps
Past the buffalo dung heap
Along past the buffalo House
Up a small slope and into the toilet!

Other adventures included taking a public shower perched on a tapstand on the side of the hill. The views were spectacular though.

More Dal Bhat.
