31/11/19 Borang to Lama Guan

Relatively easy day today, trek should be between 3 and 4 hours.

The walk we did would have been the route to extract Miles by stretcher if the Medivac had been required. So pleased it wasn't in the end as the number of landslides and tricky paths would have made the extraction dangerous and awkward. The other Raleigh suggestions included strapping Miles to a Mule although the thought of using an animal that didn't appear to be broken in was bordering insanity.

The great news is that none of the emergency planning was required in the end although it was fun to complete it and be ready to deploy if it was required.

On the route we passed a little chap carrying a massive basket pilled high. The basket was almost double his size. He seemed very happy but that is one of the most remarkable loads I've ever seen.

So the trek today was back to the Snake House. Last time we were there it was dusk, we'd had the toughest day and food was ready for us. A snake was spotted by Alisha, the house owner and the trek guides retty sure they'd managed to kill it.

This time we arrived at lunchtime. What a difference. The Mule Track outside was busy with people, families and Mules. Three people rounded the corner carrying large baskets, turned put to be fresh apples. We bought 13 apples, one for each team member.

As we sat eating our Apples a Mule train passed and one of the Mules stopped and ate our Detol soap....still in its plastic bag.

Thought there might be a chance for something other than Dal Bhat tonight. Not to be, Dal Bhat all round. I've introduced a variable though. In an attempt to get the group more protein we've started to order an omlette with each Dal Bhat and I have to say it is a great addition. Group are feeling better after a few days of this, even got the Nepali volunteers seal of approval.

Lots of baby goats about today, no Raleigh rules on not touching them so I've been taking advantage of a cheeky stroke every now and again.

Considering how cold the nights get I'm still amazed that these 'houses' we sleep in have no windows or even curtains. Another cold night.
